Natural or cultured stone, what’s the difference?

The great debate: Real or cultured stone. The answer depends greatly on you and your project.

Natural stone provides a great range of textures. It has an array of colors and a permanency that most building materials simply do not offer. Not only do these features make it the perfect choice for building, natural stone will also enhance the value, elegance and integrity of your home. Natural stone does require special structural considerations, such as concrete footings, steel angle irons, and wall ties.  Natural stone, without question, offers you the most durable building product, and when planned for, the most beautiful veneers for your project.

Cultured Stone provides the ability to place believable looking stone almost anywhere, without worrying about adding, quite literally, tons of weight as with natural stone.  Cultured stone veneer is cast from molds of real stone, which makes it lighter than natural stone.  Cultured stone veneer is lighter weight, designed to adhere easily to a variety of structurally sound surfaces, and is capable of installations that would normally be very difficult and costly to achieve with natural stone. Manufactured stone is approximately 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of natural stone installed. Therefore, cultured stone is perfect for your remodeling projects and an economical way to achieve a stone look.
