"As professional color consultants and home owners passionate about the Restoration of our 1913 Foursquare home, historical accuracy and top quality work was a prime factor in the decisions we made in choosing contractors. We knew our clients were watching the process of restoration from the removal of asbestos siding down to the minute details of the paint job. In addition to meeting our own expectations for preservation, we were charged with setting an example of authentic and high quality work for our clients. Shepard Painting met the qualifications we were looking for and did excellent work for a fair price.

Attention to detail at every turn was important to us. We wanted a hand brushed finish on the entire structure, and great care was taken to cut in all of the the elaborate trim details of the home. J.R. Shepard and the team he assigned to our project went the extra mile in working with us to carefully execute an historic paint job. The Shepard crew was very nice to work with, courteous, professional, and always attentive to our needs and requests. Shepard Painting did a tremendous job painting our home."

(Roll your mouse over the image to see the 'before' picture)

Shepard Painting has been restoring historical homes and buildings in the greater Portland Oregon area for more than a decade.

So you have an old home that has paint peeling off in sheets, cracks and bare wood showing through and you are looking to restore it.

  • What is the correct way to proceed?
  • Does the paint need to be removed to the original wood prior to painting?
  • Can you just ‘scrape, primer, and paint’?
  • Is it lead based paint?
  • Can the painter sand lead paint?
  • What are the results that I can expect in 1 year-3 years-5 years?

Complimentary Evaluation

In your complimentary evaluation, we will show you what needs to be done and why. We will discuss expectations and possibilities.  We are only interested in performing work that is a true value to you.

Are you looking for the perfect job, or a great job that will last for years?  Are you getting ready for sale? Although there are differences in price and quality level with each of the mentioned-we always do a quality job.  Remember, you will get what you pay for.

Color Consultation

Upon your selecting Shepard Painting for your home project, you will receive a color consult from our designer to select the perfect color story for your home. If you choose, you can upgrade the consult to the “Century Arts Package”- the Gold Standard in research and color selection.

No Extra Costs

No additional work is ever performed to the “agreed to project scope” without a signed work change order that details the work to be performed along with the price. This way, you are never faced with any added costs for which you have not already planned.

Complete Communication

During the project, Shepard Painting will note all features and ‘issues’ that must be properly attended to ranging from pets, children, Koi ponds, and original stained glass windows that are irreplaceable…all these things will be planned for, discussed prior with you, and protected by our conscientious crews.

Historical restoration and hands on customer service is what we do everyday, and we would be honored to work with you on your historical home or business.
